These short cadenzas are written especially for period clarinets, but are of course playable on modern clarinets as well. The opening of the slow movement cadenza exploits the colour of the forked notes, encouraging an introspective interpretation, while the first movement cadenza revisits the brilliant sextuplets which were heard in the development section.
